When I first became a single dad, to say that I was nervous is an understatement.

Scared sh*tless? Now that’s more like it!!!

I went from meticulously implementing that sleep schedule to being bossed around by a two-year old in frills. My daughter, Elle, had me wrapped around her little finger and she knew it. What she didn’t know, though, is that I loved it. I had the opportunity to dive feet-first into parenting and, although this was my first time to the party, I was determined to make it an adventure that she and I would both remember our entire lives.

Don’t get me wrong. I had A LOT to learn. There were the tactical things, like age-appropriate toys, how to adjust and evolve her diet, and the oh-so-debateable topic of screen-time. There were also fun things which I never thought I’d be the one making decisions about. Which dance class should I enrol her in? Where should I plan her next birthday party? Heck! I even got into micro-fashion!

As I researched, studied, asked my network questions, consulted experts and learned on the job from Elle herself (who is pretty vocal when something doesn’t fly with her!), I began EdmontonParent.com. A kind of online playbook of my single-dad experience while developing a community of parents around me; no matter your gender, no matter your marital status.

Thank you for visiting us and joining Elle and I on this once-in-lifetime ride!
