Fun on the Cherry Farm in Edmonton

There is literally nothing cuter than a two-year old who dresses her fingers up in raspberries and then, in a most ladylike fashion, devours them one little “finger hat” at a time. Elle adores berries way more than goldfish crackers, and I’m convinced she’s going to be a vegan (or at least a pescatarian!) when she grows up.

Picking Fruit is Fun!

So U Wanna Pick Strawberries in Edmonton??

That’s why this summer, after the harsh Edmonton winter combined with us then doing our part to stay inside and flatten the curve, Elle and I are going berry picking. In terms of selecting a farm to visit, I am being kind of picky (pun totally intended!) on which options make the cut. Of course, location and travel time play a factor, but I’m also looking for farms that have implemented social distancing rules, offer organic/natural options, and have a wide variety of crops. Elle’s favorite berry is toss-up between blueberries and raspberries, with cherries (I know, I know: not a berry) as a close third. Ideally, we’d end up at a farm that has all three.

Here are the top 3 farms for berry picking and cherry picking that made my cut:

U Pick Farm: A Berry Picking Winner

My first choice amongst these, hands down, is Happy Acres U-Pick. I love the variety of crops they have, the fact that they have flowers, and when you check out their Facebook page, there are a tonne of events listed. Ice Cream Sandwich Weekend? COUNT US IN!!! Speaking of their Facebook page, in reading their posts, they come across as being friendly, knowledgeable, inviting and straight up fun. Who wouldn’t want to go here?!
